Hundreds of Thousands of Yemenis Take to the Streets to Protest US Attacks. Thousands of people took to the streets of the Yemeni capital on Friday, April 18, 2025, local time, as a form of solidarity with the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and to protest the increasingly intense US airstrikes hitting the Houthi group.
The Houthi military spokesman said that the increase in US military power and the continued attacks on their territory would only trigger greater resistance. He said that this would strengthen the Houthi group’s determination to support the oppressed Palestinian people.

The Houthi group claimed that the US airstrike targeting the Ras Isa oil port on Friday killed 74 people and injured 171 others. This attack was called the deadliest since President Donald Trump launched a new military campaign against the Iranian-backed group.
The attack, which caused a large fire at night, marked a major escalation because it was the first time an oil facility was targeted since the military campaign began on March 15.

The number of victims is difficult to ascertain. The US military’s Central Command has not provided official information regarding the location of the attack or the number of casualties.
Meanwhile, the Houthi group restricted access to the affected areas and did not release complete data regarding the targets, most of which are believed to be military and security locations.

In a statement, the US military’s Central Command said that this action was aimed at cutting off fuel supplies to the Houthi group and cutting off illegal funding sources that have been used for more than a decade to spread terror in the region.
