Gwinn Food System Presents: Seeds and Soil Workshop

K.I. Sawyer, Mich. (WLUC) – Residents of K.I. Sawyer got an opportunity to explore gardening on Thursday.

He visited the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center for a Seeds and Soil workshop. During this event, he discussed which seeds would be ideal for planting during the approaching growing season, explained methods to ready the soil, and shared tips on optimizing his garden setup for optimal growth.

He mentions that gardening in the U.P. is challenging but still feasible.

We have the potential to thrive in the U.P.,” Finley stated. “We can excel at enhancing our soils and make a significant positive impact on people facing food scarcity in the U.P. This mission aligns with our core values.

The Gwinn Food System is conducting an additional workshop focused on building resilience in your garden during extreme weather conditions on April 26 at 1 p.m., taking place at the Gwinn Community Church.
