The SIT chief, Diksha, praised the quick response of the Patna police during the investigation. She stated that as soon as information about the crime was received, the team mobilized immediately. All available technical and human resources were deployed to gather evidence. Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) MP Shambhavi Choudhary described the murder as unfortunate and attributed it to administrative negligence. She criticized the government for not fulfilling its responsibilities adequately, leading to such an incident occurring in the heart of Patna. Choudhary called for greater resolve from the administration, emphasizing that this event serves as a wake-up call for the state.

She said, “This incident has served as a wake-up call for the government. The investigation is moving in a positive direction, and the government needs to work with greater resolve because when such a security lapse happens in your state, it is a matter of shame for everyone.”

Government Assurances and Further Actions

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary assured strict action against those involved in the murder. He confirmed that Umesh Yadav, who was identified as the killer, had been apprehended. A complete inquiry is being conducted, and all revelations have been made. The Deputy CM added that anyone supporting the crime would face severe consequences.

Death of One Accused in Police Encounter

Earlier on Tuesday, one of the accused in the Gopal Khemka murder case was killed in a police encounter near Damaiya ghat in Patna. The accused, identified as Vikas alias Raj, was reportedly the arms supplier to the main accused. Patna SSP confirmed his death, stating that he was killed around 2:45 am. A pistol and a cartridge were recovered from the site, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination at Nalanda Medical College.

Ongoing Investigations and Public Concern

The key accused in the case has also been arrested by the police. Gopal Khemka, a businessman, was shot dead near the main gate of his residence in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan area on July 4.
