Trade Guns for Gift Cards: Unusual Swap Happening in Redmond This Weekend
People residing in Redmond or those employed by the city have an opportunity to earn additional income if they’re looking to sell off one or more firearms they own.
Maybe there’s a firearm in your home that originally belonged to someone close like a friend or relative, and now it isn’t needed anymore. Alternatively, you might have acquired a weapon that you’re currently uncomfortable keeping around or realize you’ll likely never make use of.
Regardless of the situation, the Redmond Police Department is
hosting a gun swap meet
Where you can exchange unwanted firearms for gift cards.
The event takes place on Saturday, April 19, from 9 AM to noon at the Redmond Police Department North Lot, located at 8707 160th Avenue Northeast.
“The main objective of the firearm exchange program is to offer a secure method for disposing of unwanted weapons and removing surplus guns from circulation to aid in decreasing gun violence, as well as related crimes, injuries, and fatalities,” stated Redmond Police Department Chief Darrell Lowe.
Safety guidelines for attendees
Firearms should be kept unloaded with the safety engaged and placed inside the trunk or at the back of your vehicle upon arrival at the event.
The police stated that all firearms must be kept inaccessible to travelers.
Ideally, the firearms should be stored in a gun case or box for officers to inspect.
No ammo will be accepted.
The firearms can be traded for gift cards with a value of up to $300.
Values
- $100 for muzzleloaders, antique firearms, shotguns, and non-assault-style rifles
- $200 for pistols and revolvers
- $300 for AR-type rifles, AK-type rifles, and fully automatic rifles
- Individuals bringing in replicas, toy guns, BB guns, pellet guns, or airsoft guns will not be eligible for a gift card.
The weapons obtained during the event will be dismantled.
