World Leaders React to Trump-Zelenski Debate: NATO Chief Urges Apology, Germany Criticizes U.S. Approach

Following the recent debate between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski, global leaders have weighed in with their reactions. Among them is NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who has called on President Zelenski to issue an immediate apology to President Trump. Rutte emphasized the importance of repairing the strained relationship between Ukraine and the United States, particularly with the senior leadership in Washington.

“I discussed this matter with President Zelenski yesterday,” Rutte stated. “It is crucial for Ukraine to find a way to restore trust and strengthen ties with the U.S. administration.”

However, not all world leaders share the same perspective. Germany, a key member of both NATO and the European Union, has expressed strong criticism of President Trump’s conduct during the meeting. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier described Trump’s behavior as deeply concerning, particularly the way President Zelenski was received in the Oval Office.

He urged European nations to stand united and ensure that Ukraine is not coerced into accepting unfavorable terms. “Europe must prevent Ukraine from being forced into a position of surrender,” he emphasized.
