Israeli Military Conducts Airstrike Near Syrian Port City of Tartus

On Monday, local time, the Israeli military launched an airstrike near the Syrian port city of Tartus. In an official statement, Israel confirmed that its forces targeted a military site in the Kardaha area, where weapons belonging to the former Syrian regime were reportedly stored. Kardaha is the birthplace of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

According to the Syrian state news agency, the airstrike was carried out by Israeli aircraft in the vicinity of Tartus. So far, no casualties have been reported following the attack. The agency also noted that civil defense teams and specialized units were deployed to assess the location and impact of the strike.

Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes against Syrian military assets since the ousting of Assad. The Israeli government claims these operations aim to prevent Syrian weapons and resources from falling into the hands of hostile forces.

This latest attack follows a series of targeted airstrikes carried out by Israel in southern Syria just last Tuesday. The strikes occurred days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his call for the demilitarization of the region, emphasizing the need to curb the proliferation of weapons in conflict zones.
