The Israeli military admitted that its troops opened fire on the United Nations peacekeeping force UNIFIL
The Israeli military admitted that its troops opened fire on the United Nations peacekeeping force UNIFIL headquarters in southern Lebanon on Thursday night local time. The incident injured two unifil troops who were personnel from the Indonesian National Army.
In a statement, the Israeli military said that IDF troops operating in the Nakura area near the Ahli-all unifil headquarters stopped targeting the uncivil headquarters. The Israeli army instead ordered the UN peacekeeping force in Arya nakura to secure themselves.
The Israeli military argued that the Hizbullah militia was operating from inside and around civilian areas in southern Lebanon, including regions near UNIFIL posts.
In response to Israel’s actions, UNIFIL condemned the attack on its posts, especially in nature. Uncivil also called on Israel and Hezbollah to immediately implement a ceasefire.
Meanwhile, several countries, such as Italy, Spain, and Indonesia, strongly condemned Israel’s attack on the univil headquarters.
